From authentic regional cuisine in rustic settings to popular theme restaurants, Gatlinburg has just what you crave. Gatlinburg has more than 400 quaint shops and five malls. While loading up on souvenirs for everyone back home, you're sure to find a little something for yourself. The shops are filled with handmade arts & crafts, unique apparel and special keepsakes that you just can't find anywhere else. In Gatlinburg, you will see craftsmanship at its best, using simple tools and skillful hands. You can browse the many fine art galleries and craft workshops for just the right piece to take home. Tom and Becky James Hosts – 2007 Reunion ************************************************* Hotel Selected and Contracted OK, here is current information: We will be staying at the “Edgewater Hotel and Conference Center at the Aquarium” in Gatlinburg, TN. The hotel is only a block from the Aquarium right in downtown Gatlinburg. With this great location, you can walk to almost anything you want to see unless you want to hike the rugged trails! Make your reservations now, but be very sure to identify yourself as a member of and attending the “USS Dahlgren DLG12/DDG43 2007 Reunion.” NOTE: Everyone who is coming with you to the reunion counts towards our commitment to the hotel, so be sure every room you reserve is counted as being reunion. If there is any problem obtaining the rates below, contact me at tomalynn@hotmail.com as soon as possible so we can take appropriate action. Dates We are planning four nights for this reunion so we can enjoy the location to the fullest. The reunion starts on Wednesday, June 20 and we are considering a mini-reception as you all arrive. We will stay until Sunday, June 24 for the reunion. You can come early or stay on after the reunion, but you will need to make your room reservations early to get the reunion rate. Rates The rate for the reunion is $72 plus taxes (currently 12.5% or $9), so the total if taxes remain the same is expected to be $81 per night! We will be able to get the same rate for dates before or after the reunion if you want to stay longer to enjoy the Smokies or Dollywood or some other attraction! This is subject to room availability, so the earlier you book your rooms, the better your chance to get the same rate for your entire extended stay. Reservations must be made no later than May 20, 2007 to qualify for the reunion rate. After that date, rooms may be available at a higher rate, subject to availability. You will be charged for one night at the time you book the rooms. If something should happen and you must cancel your trip, your cancellation must be made 72 hours prior to the arrival date to qualify for a refund. Events Planned So Far At this time, the only fixed items are the Annual meeting with the luncheon on Saturday (one event). I will have to get the rate for the luncheon later this year, but it will be under $20 per person. This is the one event we need everyone to attend, so monies for the luncheon will be collected before the reunion. See you in the Smokies! |
